Had a presentation by Stahl Stenslie today. He has a background in arts, working with technology, VR and simulations, and is a Professor at Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

He talked about the importance of making rich sensory experiences, moving from simulation to stimulation. Working with sensuality and sexuality, in 1993he built cyberSM, coined the worlds first multisensory, full-body communication system. It worked through a bodysuit, computer and ADSL connection. To or more people could connect through internet regardless of their physical location, and apply stimulus to each other through a graphic user interface on the computer.

His next project along the same line was Inter_Skin. It was a move from interacting with each others bodies through a screen, to “touching” your partner by touching yourself.

From this he has moved on to installations both more intimate or self-centered and more public. Working with conveying to an audience the act of touching someone or being touched by someone, connecting technology and human, rediscovering religion through your own senses.

Interesting projects:

- sense:less

- solve et coagula

- erotogod
